Why Baptism Matters

Baptism is not a graduation ceremony. It is a funeral and a resurrection.

Our baptism ministry prepares believers to declare their faith publicly through the sacrament of baptism. But we do not treat this as a checkbox to complete or a family tradition to honor. Baptism is Jesus' own command to every disciple — a public declaration that the old self is buried, and a new self has risen in Christ.

The Two Commitments

Before you begin, we ask two things.

Four Consecutive Sundays

You will attend Sunday worship at Miami Deliverance for at least four consecutive Sundays. Baptism is entry into a community, and you must experience that community before you enter it.

Complete the Course

You will complete all six sessions. Every slide, every quiz, every written reflection. No skipping. Full completion is required before we schedule the sacrament.

What is the difference between baptism and infant dedication?

Baptism is for those old enough to make a personal profession of faith. Infant dedication is a covenant by parents to raise their child in the faith. We honor both, and offer both.

Do I have to attend in person, or is the course online?

The six-session course is online and self-paced. You watch each session, complete a short quiz, and write a personal reflection. In addition, the two-commitments require in-person Sunday attendance for four consecutive weeks so you enter a community, not just a course.

How long does the whole process take?

Roughly six to eight weeks depending on your pace. The online course takes six sessions of about one hour each. The four Sundays of worship run in parallel.

Can I be re-baptized if I was baptized as a baby or child?

Yes. Many believers choose adult baptism as a personal profession of faith. We honor both traditions and will not diminish what happened before. Speak with a pastor if you want to talk this through first.

What should I wear on baptism day?

Comfortable, modest clothing you do not mind getting wet. The church provides robes if you prefer. Bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Can my family and friends attend?

Yes, and please invite them. Baptism is a celebration for the whole community. Invite everyone who has walked this faith journey with you.

Is there a cost for baptism or the course?

No. Baptism and all preparation are completely free. This is the church's ministry, offered freely as Christ commanded.
